"I started training with Roy last summer. My main goal was to do some stress-busting exercise as I was under a lot of pressure at work. I’d never worked with a personal trainer before and my fitness levels were pretty poor at the start but Roy was great about adjusting routines so that they pushed me just enough without me needing medical attention!
He continually varies the workouts to keep things interesting and though we are currently only having one session a week of training, this helps motivate me to keep exercising outside of our workouts. Working with Roy has certainly helped me manage my stress better and it has had the very nice added benefit that I’ve lost about a stone in weight. My wife tells me that my abs are a nice side product of all the training too (and as she set up the first two sessions, I slightly suspect that this was her ulterior motive all along!) "I have always struggled with finding the motivation to work out. I find it easy to hide behind work or other commitments. I spent the first lockdown baking and mainly eating cake whilst working long hours at home. So when Boris announced a second lockdown this winter, I knew something has to change for the better. I decided it was time to get some help to improve my general fitness, learn how to effectively train and more importantly to help me lose some of my lockdown cake belly.
Roy has been brilliant and supportive throughout the whole process. He really listened to my objectives, things I struggle with and what I need to improve on and he was able to structure a programme that I really enjoy. I am finally learning how to train properly and have fun whilst doing it. He regularly changes the routines and every week he pushes me forward a little more. I am sure the past year has been difficult for all of us and I really don’t think I could have got through the last three months without Roy’s training. It has done wonders to my mental health and lifted my spirits. On a personal level, he is great company and a fun person to hang out with.
